To reduce contrast, another common use of flash is backlighting. When shooting, it is very common to have too much light contrast in the scene (for example, portrait under backlight). Because the brightness range of CCD or film is limited, in a scene with too much contrast, whether it is for the bright part or for the dark part, it will cause the loss of some image details. In this case, it is a good practice for the dark part of the appropriate light, in order to reduce the picture contrast, of course, it is possible to reduce the light on the bright part.
